The snowy sheath-bill's breeds on the coastlines of the antarctic peninsula and on 7 other islands in Scotia arc islands system, and  also the south Shetlands islands. They are also found around sea bird colonies during the breeding season. Some times they go to south Africa. It also breeds on the nearby islands and as far north as south Georgia.
